In the finest details

Welcome to another week in the life of Sister Miller.

WOW, this week was something else. Like I mentioned last week, our friend Herve was preparing for baptism this last weekend. As soon as p-day was over, he had his baptismal interview scheduled. He was on his way to the interview when he got hit by a truck on the freeway. The car accident was pretty bad. He spent the night in the hospital as doctors ran scans and checked to make sure he was doing all right. He has a fracture in his back and is now doing extensive physical therapy. Needless to say, Herve wasn't baptized this weekend. He could use all the prayers in the world. He is such a champ and facing what seems to be trial after trial with faith and grace. He said simply, "God gave me the family I need to get through it." Although his family is all in Africa, he knows this truth deep in his heart: church is family. The ward has been wonderful, delivering meals, praying for him by name, and truly rallying beside him in this terribly difficult time. I feel so grateful for that. Please, pray for Herve.

Our week was pretty much a series of unfortunate events haha. This week we realized we are going to have to clean out our pool and let some of our friends go. While that is hard and sad, we know that they will find truth when they are ready to do so.

Bobby is doing well. Keep the prayers coming! Slowly but surely, he is overcoming his addictions. We are proud of him. It is beautiful because I feel like I'm finally starting to see people the way God does. We are never upset when he slips up, but rather encourage him to repent, and start over. We see every effort he makes, and we cheer on his progress. We are not so much concerned with how long it takes him, as we are concerned that he is trying. I think that's exactly how our Heavenly Father feels about us. He is patient, He is constantly cheering us on. He is so pleased with every effort we make to do good and be better. Progression is all He is really after. How wonderful is that!!

Our friend Giancarlo made leaps and bounds of progress this week. He's been feeling like he's not sure if he wants to prepare for baptism, and was really overwhelming himself. But this week, we were on a call with our Relief Society President and she recommended a certain member to join Giancarlo's lesson. We followed her advice and then sat back and watched the magic happen. We taught for a total of 5 minutes that whole lesson. Brother Bonilla was the perfect match. By the end of the lesson, they were "bro-hugging" and swapping phone numbers. Brother Bonilla invited Giancarlo to be baptized and told him that NOW was his time. The spirit was sooo strong. I was overwhelmed with joy that God had led us to call our Relief Society President who then brought this member to our attention WHO THEN taught Giancarlo perfectly. God is in the FINEST details!!

Last tender mercy to share.
We reached out to a former of ours this week named Cayce. She said she just wanted to call and pray. She wasn't too interested in the gospel but wanted a prayer. So we called to say a prayer and lo & behold there was someone else in the car with her! Her name was Aleisha. We prayed with Cayce and Aleisha and immediately after, Aleisha said she wanted to meet with us!! SAY WHAT? We set up a call and had a lesson last night. She explained her story and talked about needing God more in her life. We testified that the gospel of Jesus Christ has the healing balm she is looking for. She immediately started crying. She said, "I feel so warm inside. Butterflies. I haven't been this happy in weeks!!" We testified that this was the Holy Spirit confirming the truth of our message. She actually lives in Maryland however, so we are getting her in contact with the missionaries there. This morning we received a text from her telling us that she knows that God is trying to lead her to greater joy, and was so grateful for our call. What a tender mercy. The fact that we called Cayce at the perfect moment when she had Aleisha in the car, was no coincidence. It was a miracle. God is in the smallest moments. Leading us by the hand, and giving answers to our prayers.

Guys, the gospel is so good. This church is so true. There has never been anything I've ever been so sure about. This is it. This is the plan of happiness.

I just wanted to wrap up with my testimony today.

I know Jesus Christ lives. I know He came to be our hope. He overcame all things so that we can too. He makes weak things strong. He binds up the wounds we have and cares for us always, even when others don't see our pain. I know that Jesus loves to give mercy. He loves to save. We just have to reach out to his outstretched hand.
I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know that we get to know our Savior through this book. I know that no other book has made me more of a Christian. I know that it was translated as Joseph said, by the gift and power of God. I know that because we have the Book of Mormon, God loves every people in every nation of the world.
I know that temples are one of God's greatest tender mercies given to us. He designed the family to be eternal. He, in His infinite goodness, allows us to connect to our ancestors beyond the veil and unite our families here for eternity. Life is so much more precious because of the temple.

I love God. I love this gospel.
I know it's true.

Be happy. Be brave. And be smart.
Love always,
Sister Miller
